Restoration involved extensive removal and coppicing of self-set waterside trees to allow access and reduce leaf fall; controlled draining down of the lake; excavation from the lake of six thousand cubic metres of silt and its disposal in bunded lagoons created in the park adjacent to the lake; regrading and grassing of the consolidated silt; and measures to improve the natural oxygenation of the lake.
