To maintain the privacy of gardens backing onto the site, without compromising their security or that of store users, a dense thicket of trees and shrubs with year-round effect was planted between the gardens and the store. Care was taken to design out any potential ‘lurking’ areas and temporary reed hurdles provided instant screening until the planting matured.
