The Environment Agency identified Alscot Park in Warwickshire as the possible
location of a new gauging station to provide improved flood warning and abstraction
information. This was a sensitive site being adjacent to Alscot House, a Grade
I listed building, and within a Grade II registered park. Obtaining the approval
of English Heritage to the final proposals was therefore a requirement of the
project brief.
