The villa complex occupies an elevated, rocky ridge site overlooking the straits between Nevis and St. Kitts. Unusually for the Caribbean, the client sought a development that had the highest sustainability credentials. Despite the thinnest of soils, the client required gardens which were both luxuriant and productive, with running water as a theme throughout. The complex has three swimming pools and and a similar capacity of rainwater storage tanks. The site generates electricity from wind and solar power which runs the water feature pumps and irrigation, although requirement for the latter is limited due to the use of water retention polymer in the soil mix and the use of dry winter season tolerant local material in non-critical areas.
The client wanted planting that was rich in leaf form, colour and scent. In addition, he required fruit production throughout the garden area, so the scheme incorporates, dwarf coconut, dwarf banannas, pineapple and Natal plum amongst others.
