Arthur Amos Associates were commissioned together with Dennis Wilson Partnership, highway engineers, to act as expert witnesses for the villagers of Sherbourne, adjacent the M40 Jct 15, who were objectors at the public inquiry held into the Highways Agency (HA) proposed changes to the junction layout, including a proposed dual carriageway bypass of the junction and various proposed link roads.
Arthur Amos Associates presented a convincing case for the environmental benefits of an alternative layout which would reduce the impacts on residents and the conservation area, while improving the traffic capacity when compared with the HA proposals.
The Inspector took on board the merits of the alternative layout and called upon the HA to re-examine its proposals, but stopped short of rejecting the HA scheme, because of the cost implications of further delay in traffic alleviation.
