Leasowes Park, Halesowen

The Leasowes Park

Dudley MBC commissioned Arthur Amos Associates to act as expert witness at an appeal hearing into a refusal of planning permission for a substantial proposed residential development on a brownfield site adjacent the Grade I listed, historic Leasowes Park.
Arthur Amos Associates were able to persuade the Inspector of the historic and cultural importance of the park and its setting to the nation and indeed the world. They explained the sensitivity and importance of the views not only from the park but also views from an extensive surrounding area towards the park in the context of its setting. They were then able to demonstrate the damaging effect on these views of the proposed development, and to show that the council had acted entirely properly in refusing planning permission.
The Inspector agreed, and extended her comments to cover other developments which might encroach of the park’s setting.
