Arthur Amos Associates was asked to provide expert witness services to support a planning application for an extension of an existing development on the Isle of Wight, Newport.
A public inquiry was undertaken to hear representation from the client and the objectors. As there were some trees present on the site proposed for development, it was necessary that a full pre-development arboricultural appraisal of the existing trees was undertaken and presented as evidence at the following public inquiry.
The arboricultural appraisal assessed the trees in accordance with BS 5837:2005 and presented the evidence in the form of proof of evidence, tree surveys, visual aids and rebuttal proofs of evidence. It was concluded by the arboricultural appraisal that the existing trees were not worthy of retention for reasons of sound arboricultural management nor any deemed to be worthy of constraining the proposed development.
