The Environment Agency identified Alscot Park in Warwickshire as the possible location for a new gauging station to provide improved flood warning and abstraction information. Arthur Amos Associates was commissioned by the Agency to carry out an environmental impact assessment of the likely effects of the proposals and suggest mitigation measures.
A Scoping Report outlining the proposals and alternatives formed the basis of the initial public consultation. This was followed by a full Environmental Impact Appraisal, which was published to complete the public consultation requirements of the Environment Agency.
Recommendations for best practice on ecological, historic, and visual issues were made and allowed the project to be tested for compliance with planning policies prior to submission for planning approval.
